This is not the first time I have spoken about a truth that for me is truly absolute (even if I tend to forget it sometimes..) and that is that we see, hear, experience as ‘outside’, exists inside.
I wrote about this before in the article Shaving the Mirror – Why It Never Works
Regarding what I experienced last week, the meaning of this is that I was sensitive to the words that were said, to the ‘message’ I received through them,
because there is something in me that feels that way.
And this does not mean that I agree with the exact words that were said, God knows that with these words I do not have a particle of agreement.
But there is something in me that agrees with what I experienced that the other side is trying to convey to me.
In this case, and I choose to share, in the belief that it will help to understand the matter more clearly, the message was “You are not a good enough mother.”
And hence, the same thought that most of us share, “You are not good enough.”
And it is very important to emphasize unequivocally.
This does not mean that these words are true.
All it means is that there is something in me that still feels “Not Good Enough”.
And with that I want to work.
I leave the person who said the words, and I go inside to examine the source of this emotion,
and do with it what needs to be done – each one according to their worldview.
So basically what I am trying to say is that even this unpleasant event, understanding that it is a reflection of my consciousness, is an opportunity to look deeper, and see what is in there, even when I thought it was no longer there.
So can it still be said that it was a negative event?
It was unpleasant. Without a doubt.
But it got me over another hurdle on the way to getting to know the true nature of my mind.
And this understanding is true liberation, and building true mental resilience, since it does not require defending, shutting off, or closing my heart to the world.
Quite the opposite.
It allows for the opening of the heart to the world, the entirety of which is one huge mirror of my own mind.
And one last important note.
The fact that someone is a mirror of my mind does not mean, God forbid, that I should allow the hurt to continue! Absolutely not!
And in the case of actual hurt, one should distance oneself and even cut off contact, at least temporarily!
But if this ends my work with the essence of the hurt, I can, as I wrote in the article, start counting down the minutes until the next hurt.
I owe it to myself to see where it is within me, and heal there.
With love, compassion, and most of all, wisdom.
