Accepting What Is

So what, just let go? Even when it is important to me?

“But if I let go – doesn’t that mean I am giving up?”

Sometimes letting go seems like weakness. As if we are leaving something that is supposed to be important to us.

But letting go is not giving up – first of all it is an open question:

Am I still holding on to it – because it is alive in me, or because I am afraid to let go?

Many times we find ourselves holding on to what we know deep down is no longer for us.

So this question is a critical one. Do I insist on it – a job, a relationship, a certain goal – because it is truly important and good for us or because we are afraid to let go?

And this is a question that is best answered from a place of silence, of true connection to ourselves.

And to the extent that we come to the conclusion that it is indeed something that is important to us, then, let go.

Do the best we can to advance the matter at hand, and then let go.

There is a very large element of humility here. It is the understanding that not everything depends on us, and that there are other factors that influence the final result – whether it will be to our liking or not.

Releasing the grip on the result is not defeat, quite the opposite. It allows us to truly do our best, at any given moment, and then let go and enjoy the peace that comes from the understanding that we have no control over everything, only over ourselves.

And the gain? I am learning to be the best version of myself, in every moment, the version that does not depend on anything but myself.

And in addition, I am gaining a life of peace that comes from that humility and understanding of reality.

Try it, it is truly addictive. And from the release, miraculously, appears exactly what is right and good for us. Check it out.

So a final question for you:

What are you holding on to, even when there is a quiet voice inside that is already ready to let go?
